Stimulating the Economy

As the stock market plunged, we stimulated the economy by buying click flooring and an air conditioner for the bandroom and some tasteful accent lighting for the kitchen.

Kitchen Miscellany

Saturday afternoon, I painted one wall of the dining room "Eastern Amber." At first, we all hated it. Then, we started to like it.... funny how that happens. This morning Jimmy said he "likes what that color does" to our floors. ;)

Not sure we are going to keep the kitchen lime green as it has always been. The kids found some really beautiful eggplants at the farmer's market and they (and me, too) want to paint the kitchen a bright purple. Jimmy says NO!

We shopped and purchased two base cabinets for the kitchen, which match the one next to the dishwasher but not the older ones. Oh well, it's close enough...

We are still totally bamboozled by the granite options... May look into poured concrete?

Thursday Miscellany

Tonight we went to Acme Granite & Stone and walked through their yard. Wow! What amazing and beautiful things the earth creates. They have granite, marble and onyx. Mon Dieu!

Miscellany

Tuesday and Wednesday: Picked out windows. Priced glass for picture windows. Had the kitchen measured for countertops.

Phase 3: Kitchen electrical

Yesterday was mostly electrical work (done by Joe). Jimmy took down the other side of the kitchen wall and put up a new light fixture. We bought paint. We cleaned up a lot of dust.

I got the kids out of the way for a few hours by going over to Lowry Park Zoo. We hadn't been there in a long time. They have a new ride called Gator Falls. Here's Sam (Joe's daughter), our neighbor Libby and of course, our daughter Maddie on Gator Falls.

Maddie looks terrified, but she actually enjoyed it.
